Chloromar® Antifouling System:
Total Protection Against Biofouling

Biological fouling (biofouling) from seaweed, molluscs, and crustaceans is a constant challenge in any seawater circuit, causing blockages, reducing efficiency, and increasing maintenance costs. The Chloromar® system by Naval Torreiro is the definitive naval engineering solution: a sodium hypochlorite generator that protects your pipelines and heat exchangers through a safe, effective, and economical electrolytic process.

Why Choose the Chloromar® Antifouling System?

Chloromar® is not just a product; it’s a long-term protection strategy. By generating the disinfecting agent on-site from seawater, it eliminates the risks and costs associated with traditional methods.

Safe and Eco-Friendly

It uses seawater as the sole raw material to produce sodium hypochlorite, eliminating the need to store and handle hazardous chlorine gas or other chemicals. It is an environmentally friendly system that is healthier for the crew.

Economical and Low Maintenance

The only operating cost is electrical consumption, achieving up to 80% in maintenance savings compared to other systems. With proper care, the platinized titanium electrodes have an average lifespan of five years and a three-year warranty.

Proven Effectiveness

A continuous, low-concentration dosage (0.5 p.p.m.) is the most effective method to prevent the growth of all marine micro and macro-organisms, including organisms like mussels and oysters that can resist intermittent treatments.

Flexible and Scalable

The modular design of the Chloromar® system allows it to adapt to any requirement. We offer a wide range of models and configurations for all types of vessels, oil rigs, industrial plants, and fish farms.

Advanced Technology: Generation by Seawater Electrolysis

The operating principle is robust and straightforward. The system operates via a by-pass from the main seawater circuit of the installation.

  1. Electrolysis: A low-voltage direct current is applied to the platinum-coated titanium electrodes.

  2. Chemical Reaction: As seawater flows between the electrodes, the salt (sodium chloride) is decomposed by electrolysis.

  3. Production: This reaction generates a sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) solution, which is the biocidal agent that prevents biofouling.

  4. Dosing: The generated solution is carried by the water flow and distributed to key points in the circuit to ensure complete protection.

A Solution for Every Need: Product Lines and Models

To meet the specific needs of each client, we have developed three product lines that differ in their level of automation and control.

Standard Line

The simplest and most economical models. Their manual operation facilitates control without requiring advanced automation knowledge.

AFS-BASIC Line

Incorporates a Siemens Logo 8 PLC to automate production cycles. It allows for programming work and cleaning cycles to optimize performance and electrode lifespan.

AFS-SMART Line

The most advanced solution. It includes all the features of the BASIC line and adds an industrial HMI touch screen. It allows for real-time visualization of the system’s status, production, alarm logging, and the possibility of remote control.

Model NaClO Production (g/h) Treated Water (0.5 ppm) Power Consumption (kW)
Chloromar 125 62.5 125 m³/h 0.45
Chloromar 250 125 250 m³/h 0.55
Chloromar 500 250 500 m³/h 1.15
Chloromar 700 350 700 m³/h 1.65
Chloromar 1000 500 1000 m³/h 2.30
Chloromar 1500 750 1500 m³/h 3.45
